JOB DESCRIPTION

The Role:

We are seeking a Junior Estimator & Contracts Administrator in Residential Construction to join our team in the Parramatta & Western Suburbs Sydney NSW on a full-time, on-going basis. As a Junior Construction Estimator, your primary focus is to manage the estimating and ordering, assist PM for projects Home Renovation & Extensions.

Works With:

  • Reporting to the Sales & Operational Manager, your main responsibilities will be to work closely with Sales Team, Project Managers, Suppliers and Clients to generate cost accurate and competitive proposals & contracts for a variety of items and projects.

Estimating Responsibilities:

  • Using Zoho CRM System to develop detailed cost estimates for projects, considering appropriate margins.
  • Provide budget estimates for projects
  • Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for projects.
  • Conduct cost analysis to ensure competitive and profitable pricing.
  • Manage supplier pricing and regularly update cost databases.
  • Negotiate rates and costs with preferred suppliers, sub-contractors and trades.
  • Research and analyse market rates for materials and labour.
  • Complete regular site inspections to understand client requirements.
  • Maintaining trade and supplier relationships
  • Maintaining a thorough knowledge of company products and services
  • Maintain polite and professional communication via phone and e-mail.
  • Excellent customer service skills, working with project manager, supervisors, suppliers, trades people, contractors.

Contracts Administration Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and execution of contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Review and manage contract terms, ensuring compliance with legal and project requirements.
  • Prepare and issue Work Orders for subcontractors.
  • Apply for and manage HBCF Insurance Applications
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders for materials
  • Track and manage variations, extensions, and amendments to contracts.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to co-ordinate material ordering, and site-establishment
  • Assistance with the NSW Planning Portal – managing DA/CDC lodgements and relevant documentation
  • Maintain organised and accurate contract documentation.
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to facilitate contract execution.
  • Support site supervisors with procurement, documentation, and cost-related queries.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to understand project requirements and progress.
  • Assist with construction planning and scheduling to align with budget estimates.

Requirement of skills, qualifications and experiences:

  • Have minimum 2 years’ experience in an Estimating role with Residential area
    (Home renovation & Extension - not essential but preferable)
  • This role would suit someone studying a construction management course.
  • Sound knowledge of construction practices and building standards
  • Prior experience using Estimating software preferred
    OR you must be able to pick up new software easily
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of construction methodology, and the ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Be confident liaising with general contractors, project engineers/coordinators, cost consultants.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and stay focused under pressure.
