You will be responsible for the care and support of high school students in a boarding facility in North West Queensland. This is a 24hr, seven day facility with staff rostered on a variety of shifts throughout the week and the weekend. It is a rewarding career path and one to consider if you enjoy working with young people.

About Us:

Spinifex State College is a three campus educational facility. Our Junior Campus caters to years 7-9, Senior Campus years 10-12 and the Residential Campus houses all boarding students.

Our school aims to develop clever, skilled and creative learners. To achieve this aim, we provide students with access to quality curriculum programs and learning opportunities. We also inspire our students to explore their passions, harness their unique talents and fulfil their potential.

Our strong links with Mount Isa Mines and other businesses have led to many authentic learning opportunities to prepare students for their chosen post-school pathways. This includes school-based apprenticeships/traineeships and work experience. About the Role:

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Actively contribute to the development and management of a safe and secure environment for secondary students residing at the campus by rigorously applying all systems and procedures.
  • Assist students in the development of their social and personal skills by helping students understand their responsibilities and to develop positive relations with others.
  • Contribute to student health care by administering approved treatments and by contributing to planning and development of health programs.
  • Support the schooling of students by working in partnership with school staff to ensure students are prepared and punctual in their movements to and from school.
  • Provide around the clock pastoral care to adolescent students living away from home in a residential campus, with specific responsibilities for:
    • planning weekly and daily activity sessions for students.
    • monitoring the health and wellbeing of students under pastoral care .
    • enforcing residential rules and policies such as bedtime, departure, visitor and study.

Highly desirable skills and experience;

  • Current First Aid training or a willingness to obtain a First Aid certificate
  • A car licence
  • A willingness to obtain a LHR bus licence is also required
