Description:
Primary Purpose of Role:
- The role will work within CFS Operations and work closely with the project manager and stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the Next Generation Operational Systems project – a complex ICT project aimed at replacing the current mission critical incident and information management system used by the CFS.
- The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for identifying business needs and planning, leading and delivering significant projects to support / enhance CFS Operational Systems capability. The Senior Business Analyst develops business cases, specifications, procurement documentation and other documentation needed to deliver agreed business objectives in addition to providing strategic advice to managers and project governance groups as required. The Senior Business Analyst will effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders and determine and utilise recognised techniques and practices to conduct analysis work with a focus on continuous improvement.
Outcomes:
- Plan, lead and implement consultation and technical processes to identify and justify business needs (opportunities / issues) and workflows relating to CFS Operational Systems.
- Initiate and manage engagement with a range of stakeholders to effectively elicit and document actionable requirements in business cases and determine and utilise recognised techniques and practices to conduct analysis work with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Oversee the development of appropriate solutions and significant implementation projects to address business needs and satisfy stakeholder / strategic objectives.
- Plan, lead and deliver a program of work relating to the Next Generation Operational Systems project within budget and schedule parameters
- Provide strategic advice to managers and project governance groups to influence and inform the Next Generation Operational Systems decisions and improve ICT service delivery.
- Identify risks to CFS Operational Systems, communicating them in accordance with the State Government and the SAFECOM Risk/Issue Management System framework and in line with the Australian and New Zealand Standard ISO 31000 Risk Management Principles and Guidelines
- Conduct in a manner that contributes to and encourages a culture of cross-team collaboration and a strong customer service orientation.
Essential Qualifications:
Relevant tertiary or post graduate qualification in project management, change management, business analysis or a business related field and/or equivalent experience

$108,109 - $116,864
