The key duties of the position include
The Role
The APS 6 Risk and Governance Officer within the Directorate of Maintenance Services (DMS) is accountable under broad direction for the Coordination, Governance and Oversight of the corporate Risk and Governance Management Framework at DMS.
You will be accountable to ensure the Risk and Governance Framework remains compliant with legislative frameworks, government decision making and policy requirements as it is applied to support the delivery of maintenance services across the Joint Logistics Units.
Duties include:
  • Identify, assess and monitor corporate risk that may impact delivery of maintenance services, including mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and Maintain policies, procedures and plans related to the DMS Risk and Governance Management Framework.
  • Develop and maintain the DMS risk register.
  • Brief DMS Executives on the status of Risk and Governance issues.
  • Improve risk management practices through the conduct of regular working groups and workshops.

About our Team
The Directorate of Maintenance Services is part of Logistics Operations Branch within Joint Logistics Command. We provide logistics services to support ADF operations and exercises both domestically and overseas. Our key function is to nationally manage the regional delivery of maintenance services, through our industry partners and a network of Joint Logistic Units across Australia.
Maintenance Services are provided for a wide range of Defence's Land, Air and Marine assets, comprising all levels of activity from scheduled servicing to heavy grade repair ad supporting functions, which may be conducted by the in-house industry partner or a wide network of external small to medium enterprises.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate is a motivated individual, capable of working both alone and as part of wider team, who has experience in risk management and/or corporate governance, or the ability to quickly gain such skills.
They will require:
  • To be able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, with the ability to adapt and reprioritise at short notice.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Ability to build and sustain positive working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Sound analytical skills and judgement.
  • Formal qualifications in risk management or corporate governance would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Experience in maintenance services or contract management would be beneficial but not essential.
