Overview of the role
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with 3+ years’ ESG experience to play a key role in delivering the sustainability strategy for Suncorp.
The Sustainability Advisor, working closely with the Real Estate Portfolio Performance Manager, and supported by Real Estate’s strategic service provider, is responsible for delivering the property related commitments outlined in Suncorp’s Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP).
Key deliverables include reducing our climate impact to achieve Suncorp’s Net Zero Scope 1 & 2 emissions target by 2030 and transitioning to 100% renewable electricity by mid-2025. Additionally, this role supports Suncorp’s broader ESG objectives by managing the collection, analysis, and reporting of key environmental performance metrics across the Real Estate property portfolio.
You will also support the broader Real Estate team with strategic sustainability development, innovation and process improvements, and overseeing the KPI performance and reporting of our service provider.
What you’ll do:
- Development of annual roadmap for Real Estate’s sustainability agenda
- Oversight and co-ordination of energy procurement activities including renewable energy and LGCs
- Coordinate energy efficiency, building resilience and biodiversity improvements
- Assist the Operations Team with the development of waste reduction and recycling programs across Suncorp
- Work with the Environment & Climate Team to ensure Real Estate is meeting its reporting requirements both internally and externally including public disclosures such as CDP and DJSI, and Suncorp’s annual Climate Related Disclosures Report
- Design, create, review, document and continuously improve Real Estate’s sustainability operational framework in collaboration with the Real Estate Leasing, Capital Works and Operations Teams
- Actively work with service delivery partners to ensure timely delivery of the agreed agenda for environmental management and sustainability initiatives
- Oversee the sustainability budget to drive value whilst meeting Real Estate objectives, and to work with internal/external stakeholders to ensure accurate allocation of funds during future budget forecasting
- Participate as a member of Committees, Working Groups and other forums related to responsibilities of Real Estate as required
- Work with the Environment & Climate Team and internal communications to support events, initiatives and activation sessions
What you’ll bring:
- At least 3+ years’ experience in ESG delivering sustainability initiatives and reporting
- Knowledge of Corporate Real Estate functions
- Knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks
- Client relationship experience with a strong focus on customer service
- High level of consulting, negotiation and influencing skills
- Enthusiastic, proactive, self-initiated, ability to multi-task, ability to meet deadlines, punctuality, ability to thrive in a multifaceted environment
