Our Advanced Polymers division in Mordialloc (South East location) produce high-performance plastic compounds and resins that are used as raw materials in markets such as Agriculture, Building & Construction, Electrical & Electronics, Packaging, Personal Care & Hygiene and Sports, Leisure & Homewares.

Custom services are also offered and include Specialised Compounding, Product Testing, Blending, Bulk Handling, Machinery and Warehousing.

Job Description

Our Advanced Polyolefins division are seeking an Extrusion Operator who will be motivated, and responsible for end-to-end polymer processing on plastic compounding extruders. This position will be Night shift working 11pm - 7am (Monday – Friday).

Responsibilities

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures when handling plant equipment.
  • Carry out manufacturing procedures safely and efficiently.
  • Participate in the Goal Zero safety commitment – via attendance to workshops, training etc.
  • Completion of Take5 personal risk hazard assessments.
  • Machine screen and blade changes.
  • Basic QC testing for assessing quality of granule output during processing.
  • Weighing and mixing of raw materials as per batch cards.
  • Operating Extruders.
  • Bagging, weighing and recording movement of finished goods.
  • Attending required toolbox meetings, and scheduled production training sessions.
  • Lifting (at chest level) 10/15/25 kg bags and loading onto pallets (up to 4 hours per shift).
Qualifications
  • Experience in a processing or manufacturing environment, preferably in the plastics industry.
  • Experience in weighing and mixing additives or chemicals is preferred.
  • An understanding of quality control (QC) and basic QC testing.
  • Experience operating a forklift and forklift licence is required.
  • Fluent English (verbal, written and numeracy).
  • Aptitude to operate production machinery and produce quality output on a consistent basis.
  • Willingness to learn and attention to detail.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative with a proactive approach to enhance processes and improve performance, safety and efficiency.
  • Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical and police check.
