QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
About The Role
As the Principal Business Manager for QBuild, you will be instrumental in the advancement of Queensland's building and construction sector. Your role will involve the strategic oversight of QBuild's maintenance functions, ensuring top-notch coordination and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing accurate, high-level advice and strategic support to the Commercial Manager and Regional Management team on financial aspects of the region's operations including business modelling, financial performance reporting and compliance, cost benefit analysis, preparation of budgets and forecasts, fee income and business profitability.
- Managing the annual budget preparation for the Region including liaising with Corporate Finance and provide updated forecasts, accruals, journals and coordinate end of month and financial year processes as determined by Corporate Finance.
- Providing accurate and detailed financial data and reports to the Commercial Manager and the Regional Business Director, including analysis of monthly variances to budget/forecasts and key performance indicators especially in the areas of work order management and staff utilisation.
- Reviewing, developing and/or implementing efficient performance management systems, processes and capabilities that allows consistency across the region relating to accounting, budget, fee levels and associated financial activities.
- Maintaining a thorough knowledge of financial and administrative standards, policies and procedures.
- Supporting and monitoring disaster management financial arrangements where required.
- Contributing to operational and strategic planning, client reporting, and provide input to Ministerial briefings, estimates briefings, RTI requests and other requests from the Deputy Director General's office or the Executive Director as required.
- Managing the development and implementation of work procedures, protocols and instructions and arrange training as required.
- Being a champion of change and ensure effective working relationships through continuous development and encouragement of individuals and teams.
- Proactively managing the work performance and personal conduct of your staff.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (highly regarded)
- Applicants with an accounting background (Advantageous)
