About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Disability Nurse to provide high-quality care for a child with complex medical needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the childs comfort, well-being, and overall health. This position requires a dedicated professional with experience in paediatric disability care, including enteral feeding, medication management, manual handling, personal care, and bathing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enteral Feeding: Administer and manage tube feeding as per the prescribed care plan.
- Medication Administration & Review: Ensure correct administration of medications, monitor effects, and liaise with healthcare professionals.
- Personal Care & Hygiene: Assist with bathing, dressing, and daily hygiene routines.
- Manual Handling & Mobility Support: Follow safe handling procedures to assist with transfers and mobility.
- Monitoring & Documentation: Keep detailed records of the childs health, medication, and any concerns.
- Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work closely with doctors, therapists, and family members to provide comprehensive care.
- Emergency Response: Recognize and respond appropriately to medical emergencies.
Requirements:
- Registered or Enrolled Nurse with current AHPRA registration (preferred) OR experienced disability support worker with relevant nursing or care experience.
- Experience in caring for children with complex needs, including enteral feeding and manual handling.
- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- NDIS Worker Screening Check & Clearance.
- Valid Drivers License and reliable transport.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable:
- Experience working within the NDIS framework.
- Additional training in paediatric disability care.
