Our Retail Banking Services (RBS) Everyday Banking (EDB) team has a unique role to enable the Group's strategy in enabling a brighter future for all. The opportunity
We are looking for an AI Chapter Area Lead (Executive Manager) who will collaborate closely with EDB crew leads across the bank. You will guide your team to deliver world-class data science and AI capabilities across RBS EDB and the Group. Our strategic focus lies in engaging and growing the EDB business by delighting our customers at every touchpoint, offering outstanding service, and supporting technology modernization. Your leadership will be crucial in helping the Group achieve its RBS and EDB priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead GenAI Integration in EDB: Drive the expansion and adoption of Generative AI solutions within the Everyday Banking space, optimizing our product offerings and enhancing customer experiences through advanced AI technologies.
- Reform Deposits Pricing Strategies with Data-Driven Models: Overhaul the pricing models for deposits products using a model-driven and data-driven approach. Focus on balancing competitive pricing with margin trade-offs to achieve an optimal mix that enhances customer acquisition, retention, and overall profitability. Ensure that pricing strategies are adaptable and scalable, allowing for continuous evaluation and refinement based on market dynamics and business goals.
- Develop and Implement Training Programs: Establish and execute a comprehensive training and continuous learning framework to build a highly skilled and knowledgeable data science team, fostering a culture of expertise and innovation.
- Expand Data Science Usage: Identify AI opportunities and embed these methodologies into a broader range of activities across the EDB landscape, including: smarter banking, everyday banking product adoption, open banking compliance, dispute resolution, pricing optimisation and NPS growth.
- Drive Continuous Improvement and Business Outcomes: Use data-driven insights and industry-leading practices to continuously enhance team performance and processes, ensuring all initiatives align with and support the overarching business goals of EDB.

- Leadership and Coordination:
- Proven experience in leading large, high-performing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to coordinate effectively across the Data Science community to unify efforts and drive collaborative outcomes.
- Demonstrated capability in driving outcomes that are reusable and can be leveraged across the group.
- Proficiency in risk management strategies to identify, mitigate, and manage data-related risks.
- Collaborate with the business to obtain buy-in and drive programs of work focussed on achieving the banks customer and commercial outcomes
- Proven experience in leading large, high-performing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Technical Skills and Tools:
- Machine Learning: Expertise in the design and construction of machine learning models, including feature engineering, model selection, hyperparameter tuning, model evaluation, and deployment of predictive models into production environments.
- Generative AI: Familiarity with various aspects of Generative AI, including prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), guardrail design, orchestration design, and tools such as LangChain and LangGraph.
- Version Control and CI/CD: Experience version control and CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub.
- Tooling: Hands-on experience with data science tools such as Spark, Python, R, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and SQL.
- Data Engineering: Knowledge of ETL processes and data pipeline construction, ensuring efficient data flow and integration.
- Deployment: Familiar with Docker for containerization and deployment of applications.
- Cloud Architecture: Grounded understanding in AWS or Azure Cloud architecture and integration, demonstrating experience in deploying and managing cloud-based solutions.
- Machine Learning: Expertise in the design and construction of machine learning models, including feature engineering, model selection, hyperparameter tuning, model evaluation, and deployment of predictive models into production environments.
