What will you be doing?

As a Database Services Specialist, you will be responsible for securely deliver, operate, maintain, support and manage database services on a day-to-day basis to ensure effective and efficient technology delivery, using service frameworks, architectures and solutions supporting Sydney Water’s digital resilience. The area of focus is managing Oracle Databases on versions 12c,19c on Oracle Exadata Engineered Platform. The managing and supporting of databases include the upgrade and migration activities, cloning and data refresh activities, database security and performance improvement activities and performing backup and recovery procedures.

Your role will involve:

Managing Container and Non-Container Oracle Database versions 12c, 19c on RAC and ASM.

Managing MSSQL Server Databases.

Database backup, recovery, cloning and refresh, database security, patching.

Disaster recovery operations.

Database version upgrades and migration from one server to another.

Unix shell scripting.

Documentation of processes, process improvements.

Work within the ITIL service management framework.

Collaborate with other Digital Services teams and vendors for services and support.

Provide information on operational performance metrics and dashboards.

Ensure risks and issues are identified and reported on a continual basis to the functional lead, ensuring customer focused delivery.

Who are we looking for?

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering or similar (preferred)

Mandatory skills:

Minimum 4-year experience in Oracle Database Administration, encompassing:

database migration, cloning and refresh using RMAN, Export-Import.

creating and managing standby databases.

managing databases using OEM.

migrating databases from Non-Container to Pluggable (PDB).

database upgrade to 19c.

database patching.

MS SQL Server Database management.

Unix shell scripting.

Desired skills:

Oracle Exadata.

Oracle RAC, ASM.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

Oracle Database management on OCI.
