What you’ll be doingThis is an opportunity to take control of the process of integrating the financial systems and processes of acquired companies into The Company.
The main purpose of the role is ensuring timely transition to smooth financial operations and accurate reporting within the new combined business.
Reporting to the GM Finance – Group Reporting, Compliance and FP&A, the purpose of this position is to assist with all accounting and financial reporting obligations within the company, especially in the context of newly acquired businesses. This includes monthly management reporting, semi-annual and annual financial statements.
Key responsibilities:
1. Acquisition financial onboarding including:
• Data migration
• System integration
• Chart of accounts harmonization
• Internal control assessment
• Financial reporting transition
• Group tax, insurance consolidation
2. Prepare and present high quality financial and management information
3. Provide technical accounting and commercial financial support to the GM Finance and the Finance Business Partners.
Duties:
• Management of external relationships for advisors for the purpose of business combinations/Completion Accounts/PPA/acquisition accounting
• Preparation and maintenance of all acquisition accounting papers for all acquisitions for the Group.
• Maintain asset valuation models and impairment calculations according to the requirements of AASBs.
• Assisting with the preparation and presentation of Monthly management reporting (including commentary).
• Assisting with the preparation of annual and semi-annual audited consolidated financial statements including ASX reporting obligations (Annual Report, Appendix 4E and 4D).
• Assist with reviewing and streamlining of accounting policies throughout the Group, including the consistent application of these policies across the Group.
• Assist with reviewing and streamlining of balance sheet reconciliations throughout the Group, including the consistent application of their preparation across the Group.
• Assisting in the day-to-day management of the external audit requirements under the guidance of the GM Finance.
• Assist with the preparation of all technical accounting papers for the Group according to the requirements of AASBs (e.g. Revenue, Leases, financial instruments, segment reporting, and share based payments).
• Assist with the design and monitoring of efficient and effective internal controls, ensuring the consistent application of these controls throughout the Group.
What will make you successful in this role?
Skills and Experience:
• Proven experience in M&A including acquisition accounting
• Trained with a chartered accounting firm
• 6+ years post CPA/CA qualification experience
• Strong technical capability including good up to date knowledge of accounting standards and ASX reporting obligations
• Experience in delivery of Group audit and Group Financial Statement preparation
• Previous experience in an ASX listed business
• Advanced Excel and financial skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience using large ERP Systems (Dynamics, NetSuite)
Qualifications:
• CA or CPA qualified
