West End State Outside School Hours Care (WESS OSHC) is seeking a qualified, motivated, and responsible Assistant Coordinator to support the Junior Coordinator in all aspects of operating our licensed service, which caters to over 400 children. The service includes Before School Care, After School Care, and Vacation Care. WESS OSHC operates across two service areas. Your primary focus will be the Junior Cohort, comprising children in Prep through to Grade 2.

The Assistant Coordinator for the Junior Cohort will also jointly lead the service, alongside the other Assistant Coordinator, in the absence of any Coordinator.

This is a senior leadership role with a diverse range of duties and responsibilities requiring someone with a mature outlook, common sense, and a proactive approach. This role requires a person with the appropriate qualifications, and experience, as well as the responsible, confident, and professional attitude needed to take ownership of their duties as well as being charge of the Service when necessary.

The successful candidate will need to meet the following requirement:

  1. Qualification and Training Requirement:
  • Have a minimum Diploma in Children's Services or equivalent qualifications in a relevant field.
  • Have a current suitability card (Blue Card).
  • Have current Frist Aid, CPR and Anaphylaxis and Asthma certificates or wiliness to immediately undertake appropriate training.
  • Have a certificate of Child Protection Training or wiliness to immediately undertake the appropriate training.

2. Work Experience Requirement:

  • Have worked in Early Childhood Education and Care sector for a minimum of 1 years.
  • Have experience being the Responsible Person in Charge of a session.
  • Have experience or willing and able to learn quickly in recruiting, onboarding and training staff for commencement
  • Have experience or willing and able to learn quickly in creating and maintaining accurate HR records meeting all compliance requirements
  • Have experience in planning and implementing programs for school-aged children.
  • Have experience and the ability to effectively lead and monitor a large team of staff.
  • Have experience communicating and liaising with parents and carers from diverse cultural backgrounds including families from non-English speaking backgrounds.
  • Have experience interacting and managing children in a large group setting.
  • Have experience working with children who have additional needs.

3. Work Hours Requirement:

  • 30hrs per work .
  • Be available to work Monday to Friday between 6.45AM – 6.15PM if needed.
  • Be able to work split shifts if needed.
  • Hours can be discussed and negotiated with the Service Co-Ordinators.

4. Knowledge and Skills Requirement:

  • Have a good understanding of the National Quality Framework and My Time Our Place.
  • Have experience in OWNA, CCS, administration, enrolment data entry and booking system.
  • Have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Be able to problem-solve, multi-task, and priorities effectively, while still completing work to a consistently satisfactory level.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the importance of Policies and Procedures and can proactively apply relevant guiding principles.
  • Have proven ability to work within the confines of Legislation and apply consistent quality control techniques and methods.

Reporting to the 2 Service Co-Ordinator's, you will also be supported by the Service Manager and West End State School P&C Association.
