ABOUT WESS OSHC

West End State School Outside School Hours Care (WESS OSHC) has expanded and is now licensed for 400 children!

Before School Care, After School Care, and Vacation Care. The service is divided into two cohorts , Junior (P-2) and Senior (3-6).

The management team at WESS OSHC includes a Service Manager, 2 Coordinators, 2 Assistant Coordinators and 3 Educational Leaders. The team also consists of over 50+ Educators, a Chef, and Administrator.

The advertised Junior Coordinator works with the Junior Cohort (Prep to Grade 3) alongside our present senior cohort coordinator to support the management team with all aspects of running a busy service.

ABOUT THE ROLES

Coordinator – 37.5 hours Permanent part time – hourly rate $35 - $45 per hour.

The coordinators work closely together to lead the team and ensure smooth operations. This is a senior leadership role with a diverse range of duties and responsibilities requiring someone with a mature outlook, common-sense, and pro-active approach. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Liaising with parents & guardians, school, and its community.
  • Leading and mentoring the team and monitoring staff performance.
  • Monitoring the program and working closely with the Educational Leaders
  • Ensuring the Service operates in compliance and following the service’s policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring adherence to the National Quality Framework, relevant laws and regulations and My Time Our Place.

The ideal candidate for the Coordinator position should possess a minimum Diploma in Children's Services or equivalent qualifications, along with relevant certifications and experience. Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and mentoring staff
  • Ensure age-appropriate programs are delivered to children that promote physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the program, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all children.
  • Liaising with stakeholders including parents, the school community and the P&C.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise staff, fostering a positive team culture and providing ongoing professional development.
  • Assist in the management of the program’s budget, including resource allocation and financial reporting.
  • Work collaboratively with school, families, and community organizations to enhance the program and support children’s learning and development.
  • Ensure that the program adheres to relevant legislation, regulations, and organizational policies, including child protection and safety standards.
  • Educational leadership and ensuring adherence to the National Quality Framework and My Time Our Place.
  • Ensuring compliance and workplace health and safety

Requirements for the role are as follows:

  • Have a good understanding of the National Quality Framework and My Time Our Place.
  • A relevant diploma or bachelors degree as recognised by ACECQA
  • At least 2 years experience in OSHC or childcare.
  • Have experience in child care management software (OWNA preferred, but not essential), CCS and administration.
  • Have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Be able to problem-solve, multi-task, and priorities effectively, while still completing work to a consistently satisfactory level.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the importance of Policies and Procedures and can proactively apply relevant guiding principles.
  • Have proven ability to work within the confines of Legislation and apply consistent quality control techniques and methods.
