Bluestone Mines Tasmania Joint Venture Pty Ltd, is Australia’s largest Tin producer. Bluestone is a well-established, high yield tin producer with a strong resource base supporting a mine life in excess of 10 years. The Renison mine is located on Tasmania’s beautiful West Coast between the towns of Zeehan and Rosebery.

About the role

We are looking for an energetic, results driven Mining Engineer to join the Technical Services team. Renison is in the middle of a complete ventilation upgrade, one exhaust system was commissioned in 2022, a second is underway, along with a fresh air intake system. Our paste plant was commissioned in 2023, and the underground reticulation is to be expanded this year. The Backfill and Ventilation Engineers are responsible for the design and optimisation of our CRF, LRF and paste backfill processes, as well as design, optimisation and maintenance of our ventilation systems.

The position runs back-to-back with another backfill/ventilation engineer and reports to the Technical Services Superintendent. You’ll be part of a team who are focused on working together to deliver improvement. This is a role that would be suitable for those with strong existing skills in the field or those interested in learning from a very experienced team.

This position is being offered on an 8 days on 6 days off roster.

Core responsibilities

· Optimisation of ore extraction through backfill design.

· Management of our paste fill system.

· Be involved in the design and construction of a major ventilation upgrade.

· Have technical input into an experienced team always open to new ideas.

About you

You will have a tertiary education in Mining Engineering or equivalent and previous experience working at an underground hard rock mine.

Safety is a priority for you, and you actively contribute to making your workplace safe. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must, which allows you to build relationships across departments and to communicate at all levels. A working knowledge of Deswick and Venetism would be well regarded.
