The key duties of the position include
The Role
As the Air Warfare Centre (AWC) Safety Manager, you are responsible for implementing the Safety Management System within AWC. This involves oversight of the continual process of hazard identification, risk management and mitigation across AWC work areas. A key role of the position is provision of safety information to Commanders, the AWC safety network and staff. Additionally, you will play a key role in conducting safety assurance across the AWC.
You will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of safety initiatives issued by Air Command, including applying, improving and standardising Air Force safety policy within AWC. Importantly, this will require liaison and relationship building with other Air Force Safety Managers and Advisors. This position also provides a Safety Advisor function to the local Headquarters AWC work area, as well as the provision of training, development and mentoring of other AWC safety staff.

Our Ideal Candidate
You will have the knowledge and experience to effectively deliver Work Health and Safety (WHS) advice, manage the Air Warfare Centre (AWC) safety system and perform safety assurance for the AWC. You will understand and have experience with Defence capabilities, safety legislation/regulations, quality management and safety systems. The role will also require the ability to liaise with aviation, radiation hazard and explosive ordnance SMEs on safety management issues.
Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, capable of engaging and influencing stakeholders to achieve positive safety outcomes. Your oral and written communication skills will be highly developed, including the ability to prepare and deliver concise briefings as well as complex reports. Importantly, you will be able to achieve and maintain a security clearance that enables you to handle classified information.
