Position Summary
Tangentyere Council Aboriginal Corporation (TCAC) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation, providing services and running social enterprise activities for the benefit of Aboriginal people from the Alice Springs Town Camps, Urban Alice Springs, and Central Australia.
Tangentyere Aged & Community Services (TACS) is part of the Family Safety & Social Services Division, which aims to improve the quality of life of Central Australian Aboriginal people and the wider community through providing innovative, responsive, and culturally safe services.
TACS provide home care & centre-based services to an extremely diverse and vulnerable cohort of people, where health is more than often secondary to other social determinants. Within the TACS program, support is provided to frail & aged people, people living with disability and people living with chronic illnesses. With more than 7 languages spoken and over 100 clients, TACS continues to uphold quality service provision and maintains its strong ties with community members of Alice Springs Town Camps and the wider community.
This position is responsible for coordinating daily operations of the Aged, Disability & Chronic Disease programs that form TACS by ensuring smooth delivery of services that are culturally safe. This position will work collaboratively with other members of the TACS Leadership (who include the TACS Nurse and Senior Community Support Workers) to ensure employee competencies are met, develop and maintain strong networks with external stakeholders, facilitate regular internal audits, fulfil program reporting obligations and contribute to identifying, implementing, monitoring and reviewing (as required) all quality and continuous improvement strategies and processes to maintain the ongoing sustainable growth of these programs.
The successful candidate will possess exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills and have the ability to be flexible, adaptable, and multi-task. They will possess strong problem-solving skills and be responsive to changes that occur day to day. With their extensive knowledge of the Aged Care & Disability health sectors, the successful candidate will work with an extremely diverse and vulnerable cohort of people and will be proactive in their approaches to person-centre care and overall wellness.
Responsibilities
• Coordinate daily operations of TACS Aged, Disability & Chronic Disease Outreach services.
• Provide support to Community Support Workers (CSW’s) to ensure client care plan goals are being achieved.
• Monitor, review and respond to identified client issues and changes.
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to assess and develop holistic and cost-effective care plans that meet both client-need and fulfil funding package requirements.
• Maintain organisational compliance with effective and efficient clinical management, reporting, auditing, and administration.
• Provide supervision and monitor performance.
• Represent TACS and Tangentyere Council at interagency reference groups and coordination meetings with key stakeholders.
• Assist with achieving quality management objectives across the organisation.
• Assist with achieving safeguarding objectives across the organisation.
• Assist with achieving compliance objectives across the organisation.
• Other reasonable duties as required.
Qualifications and Selection Criteria
Required
• Relevant qualifications and/or extensive experience working in the aged, disability and chronic health or social services sector.
• A comprehensive clinical knowledge, particularly to age related health and chronic health issues.
• Extensive knowledge of both Aged Care & Disability quality standards within programs such as CHSP, HCP & NDIS and how these standards are applied and reflect best practice.
• Ability to prioritise and adapt to service delivery changes to meet client need.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and supervise others, instilling a readiness to develop innovative approaches to complex situations.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience in comprehensive report writing.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong networks with other organisations to ensure positive outcomes for the program.
• Understanding of and commitment to continuous quality improvement.
• Current NT Drivers Licence, NT Working with Children (Ochre) Card, satisfactory Police Check, and proof of full (3) vaccination against COVID-19.
Desired
• Working knowledge of Aboriginal Language/s.
• An understanding of the social justice issues facing Aboriginal People and the role of the Tangentyere Council programs in addressing these issues.
