The Opportunity
The RFDS (Queensland Section) invites medical professionals to apply for this advisory appointment. RFDS aim to elevate their clinical governance framework through this appointment which will serve as the professional advisor across all aeromedical services.
This role enables you to maintain your clinical practice whilst providing authoritative guidance that ensures consistent, safe clinical practice across our aeromedical operations. You will collaborate with our Executive Leadership Team to shape the future of rural and remote healthcare delivery in Queensland.
Your Impact
As Chief Medical Officer, you will provide strategic medical leadership across the organisation, ensuring clinical excellence through robust governance frameworks. You will foster key relationships with Queensland Health, Retrieval Services Queensland, and remote communities while driving innovative service models and medical research. Additionally, you will oversee workforce credentialing, professional development, and serve as the RFDS Queensland Section’s medical spokesperson.
About You
You are a distinguished medical professional who brings:
- Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia with Fellowship in CICM, FACRRM, ANZCA or ACEM;
- Substantial experience in Pre-hospital Retrieval Medicine with clinical competence across Paediatrics, Intensive Care, Anaesthetics and Emergency Medicine;
- Exemplary leadership capabilities with demonstrated success in influencing and guiding multidisciplinary healthcare teams;
- Sophisticated understanding of clinical governance, medico-legal requirements and healthcare contract management;
- Commitment to improve health outcomes for regional, rural and remote communities; and
- Superior communication skills with the gravitas to represent the organisation across all levels of stakeholder engagement.
