Position OverviewThe Supply Specialist – Logistics & Warehousing plays a critical role in managing supply chain operations, warehousing, and inventory control within a Defence environment. This position requires demonstrated expertise in the Military Integrated Logistics Information System (MILIS) and a thorough understanding of Defence logistics protocols, inventory management, and warehousing procedures. The successful candidate will ensure efficient and compliant operations in accordance with Defence policies and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and execute supply chain management processes, ensuring compliance with Defence regulations and operational efficiency.
- Utilise MILIS for inventory tracking, procurement management, and supply chain documentation.
- Conduct regular stocktakes, audits, and inventory reconciliation to maintain data integrity.
- Manage the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, ensuring adherence to warehousing and security standards.
- Process and monitor purchase orders, stock requests, and issue vouchers with accuracy.
- Coordinate logistics and transportation activities, including the safe handling of hazardous materials where required.
- Maintain comprehensive records of inventory levels, stock movements, and procurement activities.
- Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Defence personnel, suppliers, and contractors.
- Ensure strict compliance with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) guidelines and Defence security protocols.
- Perform general warehouse duties, including material handling, packing, and unloading, as operationally required.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain operations, ideally within a Defence or military environment.
- Strong proficiency in using MILIS for procurement, inventory control, and supply chain tracking.
- In-depth knowledge of Defence logistics frameworks, warehousing standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct stocktakes, audits, and inventory reconciliations.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
- Current forklift license or willingness to obtain if required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (if required).
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
- Prior Defence logistics experience.
- Experience in handling hazardous materials and dangerous goods.
- Familiarity with ASDEFCON and Defence procurement frameworks.
- Formal qualifications in logistics, supply chain management, or warehousing.
- Experience driving process improvements and operational efficiencies in logistics environments.
Additional Information
- This role may require occasional travel to support operational logistics activities.
- Physical requirements include lifting, carrying, and handling materials within a warehouse setting.
- Compliance with Defence security, confidentiality, and WHS protocols is mandatory.
