Job Summary
Martinus is seeking a sustainability advisor to support us with the Inland Rail Project. This position will be site-based; we are open to FIFO arrangements for the right person.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and provide day-to-day environment and sustainability support to internal stakeholders.
- Plan and oversee environmental monitoring programs associated with cultural heritage, water, waste, noise, and air.
- Conduct required site inspections and audits.
- Implementing actions, procedures and tools that support the project to achieve the required sustainability outcomes
- Provide interpretation of results and regular progress reports against environment and sustainability performance targets
- Collaborate with construction teams on Sustainability Management requirements to ensure that we meet our obligations and improve performance.
- Support the environmental systems needs of the business including implementation, regular reviews, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainable practices into all operations.
- Monitor and report on sustainability performance, setting targets for continuous improvement.
- Educate and engage employees, stakeholders, and the community on sustainability issues and best practices.
- Implement the Project’s sustainability strategies including the Sustainability Management Plan
- Submit permits and approvals as required.
- Collection of data and analysis of subcontractor and supplier sustainability performance
- Promote compliance in project environment and sustainability matters, delivery of training, toolboxes, and awareness programs.
- Develop strong relationships with clients, councils, regulators, and other community stakeholders.
To be successful in this key role, you must have:
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related discipline
- ISAP/ GSAP registered.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Sustainability Management, preferably in large infrastructure projects, particularly roads, rail, or tunnels.
- Understanding of sustainability rating schemes and standards
- Demonstrated application of sustainability rating schemes and standards on projects
- Knowledge of tender requirements, project planning, development, implementation, and review
- Ability to lead high-level investigations involving multiple internal and external parties.
- Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative environmental risk assessment and development of risk controls and actions involved in the delivery and implementation of projects.
