An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Regional Contract Manager to join the Finance, Commercial & Digital group at Sydney Water. This is a pivotal role within our dynamic and evolving infrastructure capital program, which has already been recognised for excellence in delivery. Sydney Water is adopting the NEC4 form of contract, a suite designed to foster clear communication and a collaborative approach to working with suppliers, contractors, and consultants. This new way of working will enhance the delivery of water and wastewater projects, and you will be at the heart of this transformation.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Commercial Director - Program Delivery, you will be instrumental in driving the procurement and contractual aspects of our Water and Wastewater projects. You will ensure that all relevant stakeholder relationships are managed effectively and will oversee the development and management of contracts to deliver the best value in goods and services. Your responsibilities will also involve providing strategies for dealing with contractual issues, negotiating terms, and supporting the business with performance and KPI reporting.
As a Regional Contract Manager, you will work closely with Area Delivery Managers and Project Managers and serve as the primary point of contact for all commercial and contractual matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Area Delivery Managers and Project Managers, managing all commercial and contractual matters.
- Oversee supplier relationships, including contract renegotiations, pricing, performance reviews, and resolving any performance issues.
- Develop strategies for addressing contractual issues and variations, working alongside the business, Legal, and relevant stakeholders to prepare the necessary documentation.
- Identify, document, and escalate contract risks and issues via the risk register.
- Support Business Units with performance and KPI reporting.
- Foster the growth and development of team members to enhance skills and achieve organisational goals.
Experience and Qualifications:
- 7+ years’ experience in contract management within a large, complex organisation, ideally within a similar industry or sector.
- Proven stakeholder management experience, particularly with external suppliers.
- Demonstrated experience in partnering with the business to manage contracts throughout their lifecycle.
- Strong knowledge of contract development, supplier management, and procurement metrics.
- A Professional Procurement qualification (e.g., MCIPS) is desirable.
Essential Requirements:
- Relevant Degree qualifications or equivalent experience in the infrastructure, construction, and MRO sectors.
