The Women’s Business Second Chance (WBSC) Hub is a ground-breaking program for women at risk of being left behind. It aims to give them the chance to achieve quality learning, entrepreneurship and employment outcomes through access to educational, employment and support services, tailored to their needs as learners and future earners.
An Employment Pathways Officer can include:
Community and Business Development, Job Placement & Retention
- Promoting Women’s Business 2nd Chance Hub to the First Nation women of Western Sydney to build positive participation,
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with participating women to establish a mutual trust relationship
- Engaging in business development to increase opportunities for Real Futures and to promote economic development in the Region,
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with new and existing employers, community, stakeholders and aspirants,
- Negotiating and securing guaranteed employment positions for Women’s Business 2nd Chance Hub Aspirants from a range of employers, identifying job roles and requirements for guaranteed employment positions,
- Maintaining regular contact with employers who have employed an Aspirant (minimum one contact per month),
- Assisting in the organisation of Connection Day to source suitable aspirants for guaranteed roles,
- Identifying suitable aspirants for guaranteed roles,
- Identifying job readiness and training requirements for guaranteed employment positions,
- Undertaking thorough screening and suitability assessments with Aspirants prior to submission to employer,
- Assisting and preparing aspirant with non-vocational support and skills to commence and maintain suitable employment,
- Preparing Aspirant Training and Support Plan document to reflect employment and update as needed,
- Provide foundations skills training to aspirants where needed,
- Adapting the delivery of services to effectively meet the needs of different employers and aspirants,
- Facilitating site visits within 1 month of aspirants commencing employment,
- Preparing Women’s Business 2nd Chance Hub Good News Stories for Management, reporting and promotional purposes,
- Meeting monthly placement targets (KPI’s) as determined by Management.
Mentoring, Support & Retention
- Maintaining the Cultural ethic of the company by respecting Elders and community protocols,
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with new and existing Aspirants, and establish a mutual trust relationship,
- Monitoring, assessing and addressing job readiness, barriers to identify support required by Aspirant and document in Support Plans,
- Providing mentoring and support to aspirants and liaise with Managers regarding arising issues,
- Maintaining accurate Aspirant Tracker spreadsheet as per policy,
- Maintaining regular contact (minimum 2 weeks) with aspirants,
- Ensuring mentoring contacts with aspirants include details of work hours, changes in employment, barriers, issues and achievements,
- Ensuring identified changes in employment or barriers/issues identified are addressed and actioned immediately,
- Actioning any requests from Managers to assist with addressing aspirant/employer issues to prevent cessations,
- Following through with daily actions until at risk is resolved,
- Meeting retention targets (KPI’s) as determined by Management.
Data Entry, Reporting and Compliance
- Undertaking approved processes to place aspirant into employment including preparing documentation required including:
- Contributing to the preparation of weekly report of Women’s Business 2nd Chance Hub activities and outcomes for management using approved template and processes adhering to deadlines,
- Ensuring Women’s Business 2nd Chance Hub administration and data entry is completed daily in accordance with Real Futures process,
- Where required, conduct searches of database for potential aspirants to refer to current job opportunities,
- Participating in relevant performance reviews, development and training as required,
- Attending and actively contribute to scheduled staff and stakeholder meetings,
- Promoting Cultural competence training and support to employers and workplaces,
Expenditure
- Preparing Business Case form for approval for expenditure where outside of approved limits,
- Ensuring Purchase Card policy adhered to,
- Completing Staff Requisition forms and ensure forms are completed in full and approved in line with company procedures prior to any expenditure,
- Liaising with Employment Services Providers to negotiate aspirant expenditure where applicable.
- Seeking authorisation for expenditure where outside of approved limits
- Ensuring all expenditure is relevant to Women’s Business 2nd chance hub activities
To be considered for this position you will:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Administration, Human Services, Business, Marketing, Employment Services or associated fields.
- Knowledge and experience of Employment Services Experience and Case management experience
- Drivers Licence essential.
- Demonstrated ability to connect and provide support to Aboriginal women
- Knowledge of issues and potential barriers affecting Aboriginal women of Western Sydney
- Knowledge of Western Sydney service providers
- Demonstrated ability to work in an outcome-based environment toward high performance results,
- High level Administration Skills and attention to detail,
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible, multi-task and work well under pressure,
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and presentation skills,
- Well-developed computer skills,
- Exceptional organisational skills abilities to manage competing priorities,
- Understanding of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people, people with a Disability, people from CALD background and the issues they face,
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality,
- Ability to comply with Real Futures’ code of conduct, company policies and procedures and uphold the organisations values in all interactions,
- Ability to work within a team and autonomously,
- Well-developed problem-solving skills.

- Have full working rights in Australia
- Have a current driver’s licence and a comprehensively insured vehicle
- Complete an Australia History Criminal Check
- Have a current Working with Children Check or willing to obtain a Working with Children Check before employment
- Ability to work Monday to Friday – 8:30am to 5:00pm
