Your Opportunity
Join Mission Australia’s Inner City Services and make a real impact in the lives of people experiencing homelessness. Our service provides immediate accommodation and intensive case management to support clients with complex needs, helping to break the cycle of homelessness. Operating 24/7 with capacity for up to 40 male clients, we are committed to creating pathways to stability and independence.
As a Part-Time Support Case Worker, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of our facility, working across a 6-week rotating roster with three shifts per week. consisting of 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM and 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM shifts, with two weekends on and two weekends off.
In this hands-on role, you will support clients in completing tasks outlined in their case plans, working collaboratively with our two site-based Case Workers to ensure they receive the guidance and assistance needed to progress towards their goals. Your key responsibilities will be to:

Assist Case Workers, Team Leaders, and other staff members in the provision of practical supports, such as client intake, exits, meal provisions, linking with support agencies and other routine tasks such as packing up resident belongings and assisting with cleaning as required;

Respond to crisis situations in line with policies and procedures utilising supports available, such as senior staff if they are on shift or on-call ;

Record all client interactions in MA Connect ensuring records are accurate and non-judgemental language is used;

Ensure safety for clients by ensuring correct policies are adhered to and necessary assessments are completed;

Complete shift logs which present an accurate picture of connections / incidents and supports during each shift and exercise initiative.
Requirements for Success

Holds an Associate Diploma level qualification in Community Services or other appropriate qualifications/experience

Experience working with clients from a variety of different backgrounds and levels of disadvantage

Sound listening and engagement skills including the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and other internal and external stakeholders

Sound written communication skills and the ability to complete client paperwork and make basic case notes

A strong focus on customer service and the ability to treat clients with respect and compassion

A sound level of computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office packages and the ability to perform data entry

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and/or autonomously

Demonstrated professional approach to the role including maintenance of professional boundaries

The willingness and ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster

Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain

Current driver’s licence

Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
