We provide licensing and regulatory services, as well as operate and maintain thousands of kilometres of roads and our marine network.

The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Business Analyst to join our team and help drive exciting analytical projects that support Transport Analytics' goals. In this role, you’ll play a key part in collecting, analysing, and interpreting business data, helping to inform data-driven decisions. You'll work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs, document requirements, and develop creative solutions that help us meet both our strategic and operational priorities.

You’ll be part of the Visualisation team, reporting to the Project Manager, and bringing your strong analytical and problem-solving skills to the table. If you’re experienced in facilitating workshops, interpreting complex data, and documenting business requirements, this is the role for you. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop process and customer journey maps and work in an agile, customer-focused environment where continuous improvement is key.

About You
We’re looking for someone with strong analytical skills, expert advice capabilities, and the ability to manage priorities under tight deadlines. You’ll bring the following skills and experience:

  • Strong analytical and research skills to evaluate complex information, provide expert advice, and deliver clear reports and recommendations under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, set priorities, meet deadlines, and make informed decisions while achieving performance outcomes.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to negotiate, resolve conflict, and maintain professionalism with staff and stakeholders.
  • Proven expertise in business analysis and quality assurance, to support decision-making, improve performance, and respect diverse perspectives and safety.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in business/analytics/IT or comparative equivalent experience is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing user stories, information flows, business requirements, and business case documents.
  • Proven analytical background with the ability to evaluate complex information and provide expert advice.
  • Strong technical abilities in data analysis, quality assurance, and reporting.

Special Conditions

  • A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
  • Some out of hours and weekend work may be required.
  • Some intra / interstate travel may be required.

Tenure of Vacancy
Temporary appointment up to 7 months.

Renumeration
ASO5 - $85,790 to $95,413 pa + superannuation.
