Description:
At Axia Recruitment, we are excited to partner with The Living Room Tasmania in their search for a Sales General Manager—a leadership role that offers not just career progression, but a clear equity pathway in a well-established and growing business.
This is more than just a senior sales role—it’s an opportunity to become a true stakeholder in the business, shape the future of a leading home styling brand, and gain profit-sharing and ownership opportunities.
Your Journey Starts Here
It’s Monday morning at The Living Room’s Launceston Superstore, and you’re leading the weekly sales strategy meeting. You’re not just setting targets—you’re steering the business. From optimising sales performance to refining marketing strategies and mentoring your team, your leadership is driving The Living Room’s next phase of growth.
In your first few months, you’ll take ownership of front-end operations, team leadership, and brand positioning. You’ll collaborate with the Managing Director and Operations Manager to expand business opportunities, enhance customer experiences, and position The Living Room as a premium destination for home furnishings.
This role also requires international and domestic travel, giving you access to global markets and ensuring The Living Room stays ahead of industry trends.
What You’ll Do
- Lead a team of 6-8 sales staff across multiple retail locations.
- Shape sales strategies based on market insights, customer behaviour, and competitive analysis.
- Oversee front-end operations, ensuring exceptional customer service and team performance.
- Collaborate with marketing and media partners to refine branding, promotions, and customer engagement.
- Work closely with designers, builders, and architects to strengthen B2B partnerships.
- Manage stock levels and financial reporting, including POS reconciliation and banking.
- Travel internationally and domestically for business growth, supplier negotiations, and industry research:
- Approximately three international buying trips per year (China & Vietnam).
- Regular Melbourne visits for market research and supplier meetings.
- Regular interstate travel for networking and trade shows.
- Work a rotating roster that includes weekends, ensuring leadership presence during peak trading times.
What You Bring
- Proven leadership experience in retail, sales, or business management.
- Exceptional people-management skills—this role requires strong leadership over technical expertise.
- Background in selling premium or luxury goods.
- Ability to identify market trends and translate them into actionable strategies.
- Clear, confident communication skills for building lasting business relationships.
- Flexibility for domestic and international travel.
- Professional presentation to engage high-end clientele.
Why Join The Living Room?
This isn’t just another management role—it’s an opportunity to become a key decision-maker and future stakeholder in a thriving Tasmanian business.
- Equity and profit-sharing pathways for long-term commitment.
- Full executive involvement in business strategy and decision-making.
- Established brand with strong staff retention (team members averaging 10-19 years of service).
- Structured team bonus system instead of individual commissions.
- Fully covered travel expenses for all business-related trips.
- Competitive salary and executive benefits, including a corporate credit card, mobile phone, and laptop.
- Access to industry events and trade shows, keeping you ahead of market trends.
