About the opportunity
We continue to grow at Detmold Group, and we’re now accepting applications for the position of Procurement Manager as part of the Detmold Sourcing team based at Brompton, South Australia.
Reporting to the General Manager, Detmold Sourcing, you’ll ensure the efficient and effective maintenance and expansion of the range of externally procured products meets the needs of the Detmold Group and its customers.
In addition, you’ll narrow the required product brief and the tactical and strategic execution of purchasing decisions to meet quality, brand, commercial and competitive objectives.
In terms of specific responsibilities, you will:
- Act as a conduit between the Sales & Marketing teams, individual buyers & operations team members within Detmold Sourcing.
- Use product-specific and supplier-specific knowledge to recommend the optimal sourcing options for products to ensure compatibility with existing Detmold Group SKU’s.
- Collaborate with the Adelaide technical and product development teams to fulfil the procurement deliverables of Category Development plans.
- Lead the process of collating, comparing, recommending or selecting suppliers that best meet the requirements for a given brief.
- Engage in specific product and product range development in conjunction with Sales and Marketing team members.
- Track and report on the success of new products quoted.

What you’ll need:
- Proven experience in strategic supplier selection and management.
- In-depth knowledge of food and retail packaging industry trends, practices, standards and suppliers.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, highly developed numerical capability and commercial acumen.
- The ability to show initiative and be proactive in problem solving and issue management.
