Join our team as a Senior Cost Controller , supporting across Wind, Solar and BESS projects. This will be a 24 month fixed term assignment.
About your role:
We are looking for a Senior Cost Controller , to support our Yurika portfolio of renewable energy projects. Yurika is an Energy Queensland owned business delivering a portfolio of Solar, Wind and BESS projects. This role sits within the Energy Queensland Business Services Team, responsible for the Cost Control, Financial Reporting and Forecasting. Reporting into the Project Controls Lead, this position will work closely with the cost control team, Yurika Head of PMO and other Commercial staff on business change initiatives, daily (project) cost control and mentoring others in the team.
The Senior Cost Controller will develop, interpret, and present information essential for effective project and cost control within Yurika Energy & Infrastructure's program of work. This role involves enhancing our existing body of knowledge and executing project reporting templates, pro-formas, project management tools, and Work Breakdown Structures. These tools are critical for monitoring and controlling the project portfolio concerning time, cost, quality, risk, and safety performance. Additionally, the Senior Cost Control Analyst will provide analytical support to key project and management personnel, assisting them in their decision-making processes.
The key responsibilities will include collaborating with Project Managers and project teams to establish and update the project budget, offering recommendations for project accounting as needed. This role involves proactive and strategic leadership within the Project Finance discipline, identifying trends and presenting findings to senior leaders to aid in decision-making. Additionally, you will develop and manage cost and planning control structures aligned with the Work Breakdown Structure. Managing information and confidentiality requirements in line with ring-fencing parameters is crucial.
About you:
In addition to your degree qualifications in Management, Business, Commerce, Accounting or Finance and/or equivalent relevant experience, you have a proven track record in cost control teams in a project focused, dynamic and fast-paced business environment. You also have:
- Strong Excel (preferably Power BI) financial reporting skills.
- An appetite for continual improvement, with an ability to enhance / simplify / improve processes. Any business change, transformation, business process improvement experience would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of project / cost control and the ability to deliver appropriate and timely project reporting and critical information internally and to external customers.
- Strong understanding of project controls and in the use of systems to deliver appropriate and timely project control reports including strong knowledge of Ellipse and other project cost control tools and systems.
- Strong ability to play a pro-active project support role to the Works Delivery team and project managers.
- You are comfortable working in a complex organisational structure with excellent stakeholder management.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering project improvements in safety, performance, quality, cost and time.
- High level knowledge of project delivery budgeting to be able to provide active input into identifying and resolving project cost issues.
- Excellent planning, communication and reporting skills both at a project level and a portfolio level including strong ability to manage project reports for multiple projects at the same time.
- Proven ability to deliver results to the required standards of work quality including being on time, under budget with minimal need for re-work or variation.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a small team environment that places a high value on collaboration, customer satisfaction and commercial focus.
