Join our team as a Project Cost Controller , supporting across Wind, Solar and BESS projects. This will be a full time permanent hire.
About your role:
We are looking for a Project Cost Controller , to support our Yurika portfolio of renewable energy projects. Yurika is an Energy Queensland owned business delivering a portfolio of Solar, Wind and BESS projects. This role sits within the Energy Queensland Business Services Team, responsible for the Cost Control, Financial Reporting and Forecasting. Reporting into the Project Controls Lead, this position will work closely with others in the Cost Control team and stakeholders of the Yurika project team to deliver cost control, financial reporting and project support from a project services perspective.
The Project Cost Controller will develop, interpret, present and act on the information required for adequate project and cost controls for the program of work implemented by Yurika Energy & Infrastructure. To build on the body of knowledge and implement the project reporting templates, pro-formas, project management tools and project Work Breakdown Structures to enable the monitoring and controlling of the portfolio of projects for time, cost, quality, risk and safety performance. To provide analytical support to key project and management personnel in their decision making.
The key accountabilities involve developing and maintaining project cost control systems to ensure timely reporting on various performance metrics, leading the development of a professional project controls culture, and creating routine project controls information. Responsibilities also include providing support for project managers in reporting and cost control activities, enhancing project documentation, maintaining an up-to-date project information database, aligning project control systems with broader company practices, and collaborating effectively across teams while ensuring confidentiality. Additionally, there is a strong emphasis on personal commitment to health, safety, environmental standards, diversity, inclusion, and compliance with legislation and policies.
About you:
In addition to your degree qualifications in Management, Business, Commerce, Accounting or Finance and/or equivalent relevant experience, you have a proven track record in cost control teams in a project focused, dynamic and fast-paced business environment. You also have:
- Strong Excel (preferably Power BI) financial reporting skills.
- Strong understanding of project controls and in the use of systems to deliver appropriate and timely project control reports including strong knowledge of Ellipse and other project cost control tools and systems.
- Strong ability to play a pro-active project support role to the Works Delivery team and project managers.
- High level knowledge of project delivery budgeting to be able to provide active input into identifying and resolving project cost issues.
- Excellent planning, communication and reporting skills both at a project level and a portfolio level including strong ability to manage project reports for multiple projects at the same time.
- Proven ability to deliver results to the required standards of work quality including being on time, under budget with minimal need for re-work or variation.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a small team environment that places a high value on collaboration, customer satisfaction and commercial focus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and commitment to workplace health and safety, and environmental practices.
