Make a Difference in Homelessness Prevention

The Salvation Army Australia's Homelessness Stream provides high-quality, person-centred services to people at risk of or experiencing homelessness. We support adults and families, including accompanying children, with accommodation, case management, outreach support, financial assistance, and referrals to specialist services.

We are seeking a motivated and community-focused Early Intervention Case Manager to provide immediate support to individuals and families at risk of losing their housing. This role is essential in sustaining tenancies, preventing homelessness, and building strong community networks for ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide client-centred case management to individuals and families at risk of homelessness.
  • Deliver early intervention support to sustain housing, transition to stable accommodation, or facilitate rapid rehousing.
  • Offer information, referrals, and advocacy to connect clients with appropriate services.
  • Administer brokerage funds to assist with housing-related expenses.
  • Collaborate with Homelessness Assertive Outreach Teams to support at-risk individuals.
  • Develop educational resources and integrate homelessness awareness into school curricula or community projects.
  • Build partnerships with local businesses, schools, and community organizations to strengthen support networks.
  • Represent the service at community events, outreach hubs, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners to enhance service delivery.

About You

We're looking for someone with:

  • Strong communication and public speaking skills to engage diverse audiences.
  • A passion for social justice and homelessness prevention.
  • Tertiary qualifications in community services, social work, or a related field (minimum Diploma level).
  • An understanding of Trauma-Informed Practice.
  • Experience working with clients with complex needs.
  • Minimum 2+ years' experience in case management or within the homelessness sector.
  • Strong computer literacy and administrative skills.
  • Experience supporting culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
  • A current Working with Children Check.
  • A current NSW Driver's License.
  • Ability to undergo a National Police Check.

Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Crisis Assistance and Supported Housing Lvl 2
