Role Overview:
As the Indigenous Mentor , you will be responsible for providing guidance, support, and culturally appropriate mentorship to Indigenous participants engaged in our programs. Your work will be crucial in fostering a sense of belonging, cultural pride, and empowering individuals to achieve their goals. You will work closely with both participants and staff to ensure that our services are culturally competent, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of Indigenous Australians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one mentorship and support to Indigenous participants in a culturally safe and respectful manner.
- Offer advice, guidance, and encouragement to help participants achieve their personal and professional goals.
- Work with the team to develop and implement programs tailored to the needs of Indigenous participants.
- Foster positive relationships with local Indigenous communities and relevant stakeholders.
- Advocate for and support the holistic wellbeing of Indigenous individuals in the program.
- Assist with career development, education, and training pathways for Indigenous participants.
- Ensure that all interactions are culturally competent and aligned with the values of the organization.
Key Requirements:
- Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, values, and practices.
- Demonstrated experience in mentoring, coaching, or community development, particularly with Indigenous communities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of people.
- Empathy and commitment to fostering positive relationships and supporting the aspirations of Indigenous participants.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- A passion for social justice and empowering Indigenous Australians.
