We are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer, Life Sciences to join our team in Sydney, NSW.
Job Description Summary
Your primary objective is to deliver on-site support to our key customers across NSW, including leading research institutes, universities, and diagnostics pathology laboratories. This role encompasses the installation and commissioning of projects, fault diagnosis and repair, as well as general maintenance within our Diagnostics and Biosciences portfolio. Additionally, you will provide troubleshooting support via phone when applicable.
Responsibilities:
- Effect instrument installations, commissioning and customer training on instrument maintenance
- Perform remedial maintenance on a nominated range of equipment in a professional and customer-oriented manner
- Maintain accurate service records through diligent and timely use of service reports and the customer database
- Communicate with Account Managers, Technical Product Specialists and Sales Managers on potential sales opportunities
- Effect tight control of the service parts movements and usage allocated to your responsibility
- Assess and report on product performance, faults and make recommendations for improvement
- Maintain a high level of product knowledge for all instruments. Participate and keep current with training on new instrument models
- Provide customers with quotations for instrument repairs
- Discuss service requirements with customers and look for opportunities to sell service contracts
- Adhere to the requirements of the Quality Management System as maintained by BD Australia.
- Participate in on-call roster.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Certificate, Diploma or Degree qualifications in electronics, engineering or similar discipline mandatory. Bachelor of Engineering is highly regarded
- A minimum of five years' experience in Life Science, Diagnostic instrumentation or Flow Cytometery instrumentation service required
- Experience in laboratory automation is highly advantageous
- Work with precision and finesse as the equipment and tools used are high-spec
- Good communication and interpersonal skills required and able to accommodate the requirement of frequent domestic and international travel
- Understanding of diagnostic laboratory and research institute workflows a definite bonus
- Component knowledge level of computer hardware and software familiarity and data management ability required
- IT infrastructure, computer networking ability with proven experience mandatory
- Ability to perform Applications & Operating Systems configurations, updates and upgrades.
