Allied Credit is a leading vehicle finance firm with strategic alliances with global car, marine and motorcycle brands. Offering white label, joint venture and floorplan finance, our proprietary software provides a seamless, convenient and customer-focused finance service to consumers and businesses.

We are seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to safeguard the company’s cloud-based systems, applications and data from cyber threats, while ensuring compliance with security policies, and developing solutions to produce metrics and dashboards to provide insights into areas for uplift and remediation.

What you will be doing

• Reviewing, modifying and maintaining Microsoft Purview Rules to identify, classify and protect data according to organisational policies.

• Gathering data from multiple sources to produce relevant security metrics for various stakeholder groups.

• Scoping, managing and supervising penetration testing exercises performed by third parties.

• Producing meaningful diagrams and documentation of all security platforms managed, ensuring the documentation is kept up to date with any new changes.

• Producing threat models using well-known frameworks (e.g. STRIDE) to analyse and recommend additional security measures on business applications and infrastructure (on-prem and cloud).

• Managing and optimising Defender for Identity and Entra ID platforms, Defender for Endpoint Protection and Intune Endpoint Security configurations to achieve and maintain a strong device security posture.

• Managing email and phishing (Defender for Office 365) configurations, and introducing optimisations as suggested by the vendor, internal investigations and industry best practice.

• Supporting the Cloud SaaS Governance processes by managing configurations and policies on Defender for Cloud Apps.

• Designing, implementing, and managing security measures within Azure cloud environments, ensuring that Azure infrastructure complies with security standards, regulations and best practice (e.g., NIST, ASD Essential 8 and MITRE ATT&CK).

• Implementing automated reviews of security configurations in Azure to ensure continuous compliance assessments with industry standards and organisational requirements.

• Managing and optimising Defender for Cloud policies and configurations to maintain a strong cloud security posture, protect cloud workloads and embed security rules to achieve a strong DeveSecOps practice.

• Configuring, managing, optimising and maintaining Microsoft Defender for Vulnerability to ensure it provides continuous detection of vulnerabilities across all devices (Desktops, Laptops, Servers, Networking Devices, Printers and any other device with an IP)

• Working with IT teams to implement patches, configurations and other remediation actions to reduce security risks across all organisational IT assets.

• Working closely with the SOC (Security Operations Centre) team to ensure continuous monitoring of organisation’s technology infrastructure and endpoints, and respond promptly to mitigate security threats and incidents effectively.

• Leading investigations and incident response efforts related to security threats.

• Analysing and documenting incidents, performing root cause analysis to prevent re-occurrences.

• Working with cross-functional teams to integrate security best practices into developing, deploying and maintaining Azure-based applications and systems.

• Provide training and support to internal teams regarding Azure and Defender security tools, processes and best practice.

Your background

• Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security or related field.

• Proven experience as a cybersecurity engineer with a focus on cloud security, specifically Azure; including Azure Sentinel, Azure Firewall, Azure MS EntraID and Azure Key Vault.

• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Defender Suite (Defender for Endpoint, Defender Vulnerability Management, Defender for Cloud Apps, Defender for Office 365 and Defender XDR).

• Good understanding of Data Protection capabilities using Microsoft Purview.

• Expertise in analysing cyber security metrics and presenting meaningful data insights, using tools such as Power BI.

• Strong understanding of cloud security concepts, including network security, identity management, data protection and secure cloud architectures.

• Experience with scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell, Bicep, Terraform) to automate security tasks and improve workflows.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment with strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders

• Thorough understanding and experience with ITIL processes, including incident, change, problem and configuration management.

• Must be proactive, self-motivated, passionate about learning and continuous improvement.
