In this dynamic role, you will work closely with academics, funding bodies, and professional colleagues across the University, providing expert advice on funding guidelines, coordinating pre-award processes, and reviewing applications to maximize their impact. Your ability to navigate complex funding requirements, provide tailored support, and deliver high-quality services in a fast-paced environment will be key to driving research excellence at UQ.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Display a high level of expertise in funding guidelines and agreements to provide consistent and reliable advice to researchers, RO colleagues and other stakeholders.

  • Coordinate communication between researchers and funding bodies to support eligibility matters and clarifications as needed.

  • Liaise with academic staff at all levels to ensure successful grant applications, including supporting the writing and editing of applications for strategically important schemes.

  • Effectively manage the pre-award end-to-end workflows by identifying and resolving issues and reviewing research grant applications in a timely manner.

  • Ensure research funding applications meet eligibility and compliance requirements set by funding bodies and UQ.

About You

  • Possess relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent knowledge gained through a combination of education, training and experience, with prior pre-award grant support experience highly valued.

  • Demonstrated grantsmanship, writing and/or editing experience in a research or policy environment, ensuring concise, precise and compelling content that meets eligibility and compliance requirements.

  • Strong track record in delivering high-quality, professional and customer-focused services to clients in environments with tight deadlines.

  • Well-developed problem-solving skills and a high degree of initiative, with the ability to undertake tasks with minimal supervision or direction.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia and a criminal check.
