The Role
We are seeking an experienced Head of Grants & Impact to lead the strategic development, implementation and management of Mater Foundation’s grant funding portfolio and impact measurement initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this leadership role ensures funding allocations align with Mater’s strategic priorities, mission and community benefit goals.
The Head of Grants & Impact will drive stakeholder engagement, grant administration and impact assessment, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. Key responsibilities include developing and managing the grant funding strategy, establishing clear assessment criteria and identifying strategic funding opportunities with senior leadership. The role also oversees impact measurement frameworks, financial oversight of grant distributions and transparent reporting for funders and internal stakeholders. Additionally, it requires strong relationship management across corporate, philanthropic and community networks while leading the development of a new grants database to enhance efficiency and accountability.
About You
The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with extensive experience in grant management, financial oversight and impact reporting. They will have a proven ability to develop and implement high-impact funding initiatives that align with organisational priorities while ensuring transparency, accountability and measurable outcomes. With expertise in grant applications, approvals and distribution processes, they will maximise funding opportunities and effectively assess impact.
With strong communication skills and a talent for building relationships, the ideal candidate will effectively engage senior stakeholders, convey funding strategies with clarity and create connections to drive results. Their strong process, financial and budget management skills will support the oversight of large-scale funding distributions in a complex environment.
Leveraging a data-driven and results-focused approach, they will make strategic decisions, effectively manage competing priorities and drive continuous improvement. With tertiary qualifications in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Health Services or a related discipline, they bring a proven leadership track record and a strong commitment to excellence in funding strategy and impact measurement.
