DETSI is seeking a highly skilled and visionary leader to take on the role of Director for Soil and Catchment Science, an integral position within our environmental management framework. This pivotal role calls for a dynamic individual who can guide and inspire four multi-disciplinary teams to achieve excellence in the field of soil and catchment science.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the monitoring, modelling, and mapping of soil and catchment values across Queensland.
- Oversee the analytical services that buttress the design and execution of highpriority government policies.
- Drive strategic initiatives, including the Reef 2050 Water Quality Improvement Plan and the Paddock to Reef monitoring program.
- Manage the Queensland River Management Program, ensuring sustainable practices and policy alignment.
- Ensure the delivery of top-quality analytical services through the Chemistry Centre.
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and the sharing of scientific knowledge.
Ideal Candidate:
- Possesses a postgraduate degree in Environmental Science, Earth Science, or a related field.
- Brings substantial leadership experience in directing complex scientific or environmental projects.
- Has a track record of managing and nurturing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Demonstrates an extensive background in soil and catchment science, including practical experience with monitoring and analysis.
- Shows a comprehensive understanding of government policies related to environmental management and conservation.
- Exhibits excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Is adept at formulating strategies and action plans to address both current and emergent environmental issues.
