OUR CLIENT
Our client is a service provider with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the transport industry, based at Kunda Park. They have a permanent position available for a Payroll Officer who has experience and a very keen eye for detail.
Qualifications
• No formal qualifications required
• Cert IV in Bookkeeping is desirable
Experience
• Experience in Sage MicrOpay systems.
• Knowledge and application of effective payroll practices and principles
• Experience with modern Awards
• Experience in data entry
Skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail and responds appropriately under time and pressure situations
• Excellent written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills.
• Well-developed computer literacy including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively to meet strict deadlines.
• Ability to be flexible and use initiative.
• Ability to interpret awards / agreements and understand legislative requirements.
• Problem solving, being able to think outside the square.
• Positive and enthusiastic disposition
Knowledge
• Awareness of the Fair Work Act
• Awareness of the various Long Service Leave Acts

General Responsibilities
• Payroll
• Process weekly payroll accurately, timely and in accordance with legal and company requirements, including:
- Validation of timesheets
- Data entry of timesheet information into the payroll software
- Preparation of the EFT file and uploading into the bank for co-authorisation and payment
- Distribution of pay advices.
• Preparation of the monthly superannuation reporting and payment obligations
• Reconciliation of payroll, superannuation calculations and payments as well as authorised payroll deductions
• Liaising HSEQ team regarding workers compensation claims, documentation and payments
• Preparation of separation certificates
• Preparation, distribution and lodgement of PAYG summaries
• Resolve payroll queries in an accurate, timely and customer focused manner.
• Maintaining the default super funds online employee data
Other
• Weekly/monthly reporting to Management on payroll and/or HR information as required
• Assist with general administration duties as required.
• Other duties as directed by the Senior Accountant
