The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) Intensive Care Unit is looking for an Administration Officer - Ward Reception to join their team. This unit is regarded as one of the leading adult specialist facilities in Australia. With 26 funded beds on average and over 2300 annual admissions, the ICU has the highest surgical throughput of any hospital in Australia and New Zealand. All major adult specialities are provided with the exception of burns and obstetrics. Combining innovative clinical practice and a supportive learning environment encourages and ensures that we promote excellence in patient and family care.

About the Role

  • Respond to general reception enquiries on the ward by answering all incoming telephone calls and ensuring accurate transfer of messages and information to support patients and staff.
  • As the primary contact on the ward, assist and direct visitors by accessing patient information and providing an effective and courteous front counter service.
  • Contribute to patient flow efficiencies on the ward and throughout the hospital by liaising with a range of staff to coordinate appointments, resources and movement on behalf of patients.
  • Consult with patients to obtain correct details for completion of admissions to the ward and record information accurately into the hospital information systems.
