If so, we want you to be part of our dynamic Priority Reforms team at the Department of Treasury and Finance!We are currently seeking applications for a Principal Advisor to join the Priority Reforms team at The Department of Treasury & Finance in an ongoing capacity.Remuneration: ASO8 – Salary Range ($121,107 – $125,679 p.a.).
About the opportunity:The Principal Advisor will manage policy development and analysis, including complex financial and budget analysis. The role will establish and maintain senior-level relationships with clients and stakeholders and lead cross-government policy reform projects aligned with departmental goals. Ensuring timely project delivery with mitigated risks is essential. The role is responsible for providing evidence-based advice to the Director and Executives, conducting policy analysis on complex subjects, and preparing submissions, briefs, and reports on policy issues.
About youTo be successful you will have:Superior written and oral communication, including the ability to explain complex concepts succinctly and clearly and to be able to successfully negotiate outcomes.Significant policy development, implementation, evaluation and/or reform experience.Shaping strategic thinking and providing innovative policy advice, including through the demonstrated use of high-level analytical and problem solving skills.Proven ability to think creatively, exercise initiative and apply sound judgement.A high level of personal drive and professionalism, including the ability to manage highly sensitive issues with tact, discretion and strict confidentiality.Strong interpersonal skills, including proven ability to consult, influence and negotiate, and work effectively with a range of stakeholders to resolve issues.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Ability to plan, prioritise and organise work to meet deadlines and competing demands.Demonstrated experience in the application of the relevant legislation, policies and procedures, including Code of Ethics, EEO and cultural inclusion.An understanding of the legislative requirements of the Work Health and Safety Act 2012.An understanding of and ability to work/manage to the spirit and principles of AS ISO 31000:2018 Risk management – Guidelines.
