The Opportunity
As the Senior Planning Project Officer , you will work within multidisciplinary teams, assisting the Principal Strategic Planner as well as managing discrete projects relating to the strategic planning, implementation and development of maritime infrastructure. You will support the Department’s functions by providing project leadership across planning frameworks, masterplan investigations and development approvals.
This position is also responsible for providing advice and managing the Department’s statutory planning obligations as they relate to state infrastructure. This includes monitoring and reviewing scheme amendments, state planning policy and third-party development proposals.
You will work with Harbour Managers and the Department’s Coastal Facilities branch to advance strategic planning projects on maritime property or support proposals by private leaseholders on the Departments vested land.

About you
- Background in Urban and Regional Planning and/or relevant equivalent professional experience.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
- Considerable experience in managing projects relating to strategic planning or development areas.
- Experience and or knowledge of infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
- Experience in assessing, advising and making recommendations on development proposals and land use planning frameworks, including structure/precinct plans, scheme amendments and state planning policy.
- Experience in scoping and supervising consultancy and contract services.
- You will be a strategic thinker with highly developed research, analytical and evaluation skills.
- You will have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
