What you’ll do
The Business Development Manager (“BDM”) role is a key part of a high performing sales and distribution team. You will use your proven sales skills to promote and distribute the Selfwealth Adviser Platform to Financial Advice practices nationally, as the preferred solution for managing their client’s direct equity investments, to secure all or part of their business. You will do this by leveraging existing networks and relationships and by undertaking strategic Business Development activity whilst being compliant with relevant regulations and policies.
Key responsibilities
Client Acquisition and Relationship Management
- Drive and grow the sales pipeline by identifying and pursuing new revenue opportunities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with financial service professionals, engaging with prospective clients to identify opportunities for revenue growth
- Work with senior members of the team to support the acquisition of AFSL and Adviser opportunities.
- Expand the Selfwealth Adviser platform by registering, onboarding, and supporting new Adviser clients throughout their integration process.
- Represent Selfwealth at industry conferences, events, seminars, and networking events as required.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align business development efforts with overall company objectives.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of Adviser interactions and activities in the CRM system.
- Work closely with the adviser services team to assist and provide guidance with Adviser queries related to platform questions, client onboarding, stock transfers and account maintenance.
- Stay informed on economic trends, industry developments, and competitor activities to serve as a key source of market insights and intelligence.
Process Improvement
- Actively identifies potential compliance risks or inefficiencies within existing sales processes
- Assists in the implementation of new processes or enhancements to existing workflows, working closely with management to ensure effective execution.
What success looks like
Success in this role requires a proactive and relationship-driven approach to business development, focusing on driving the sales pipeline by identifying and pursuing new revenue opportunities while building strong relationships with financial service professionals. By collaborating with senior team members to acquire AFSL and Adviser opportunities, you’ll expand the Selfwealth Adviser platform to support new clients, and represent Selfwealth at industry events and networking functions. Internally, you’ll assist with onboarding, account maintenance, and stock transfers while maintaining accurate records in the CRM system.
Staying informed on economic trends, industry developments, and competitor activities is critical to providing valuable market insights.

We’re looking for a motivated BDM who:
- 3+ years of experience in a sales role in the financial services/wealth management industry.
- Established relationships with Dealer groups or financial advisers will be highly valued.
- Deep understanding of market dynamics, competitor landscape and regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, partners, and various other stakeholders.
- Adaptability and resilience to thrive in dynamic and fast-paced environments
- Must be Melbourne based
Nice to haves:
- Previous experience working in a financial planning office or with direct equity platforms.
- Experienced BDA looking to transition to a BDM role.
