In partnership with the Education Centre of Australia (ECA), the University of Tasmania (UTAS) is opening a brand-new study centre in Ultimo, Sydney in 2025. The inaugural suite of offerings includes AACSB-accredited business courses as well as ACS-accredited ICT courses on both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The portfolio will continue to grow in the coming years.

We are seeking to appoint a full-time Lecturer (ICT) who will be responsible for delivering up to three ICT units, providing academic advising to students and working with the Melbourne-based Academic Lead to ensure the quality of the ICT courses offered at the Sydney Campus are delivered at a high standard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach up to three subjects in the suite of ICT courses offered in Sydney
  • Conduct student consultation and academic counselling for students who require additional support
  • Under the guidance of the Melbourne-based Academic Lead, ensure that the delivery of all ICT courses at the Sydney campus meets or exceeds the requirements and standards of UTAS
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with all stakeholders to ensure that academic delivery requirements are resourced and met
  • Advise the Academic Director on the continuous improvement of delivery, student experience and campus operations
  • Implement early intervention strategies in collaboration with Learning Support Coordinators for students-at-risk and monitor their progress according to UTAS’ Policies and Procedures
  • Maintain currency in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) and that of the incumbent’s discipline by undertaking scholarly work and professional development

As the successful candidate, you will ideally have:

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline
  • 2+ years’ experience in higher education teaching
  • Experience in subject or course coordination/management
  • Demonstrated track record in supporting the success of international students
  • Knowledge of the Higher Education Standards Framework and the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students
  • High level of stakeholder management and student engagement skills

Desirable:

  • Graduate Certificate or above in learning and teaching or tertiary education
  • Experience in higher education quality assurance
  • Experience with third-party course delivery
  • Experience in working with geographically dispersed teams
