ASIC is seeking a full time Analyst – Scams (Data) to join ASIC's Scams TeamPermanent position with hybrid working environment based in Melbourne or Sydney (other locations to be considered)It is a great opportunity to lead and contribute to data and technology-focused projects and tasks that deliver on ASIC's Scams StrategySalary $123,444- $144,386 plus 15.4% super (depending on experience)

The team
ASIC's Enforcement and Compliance Group (ECG) is responsible for the conduct of ASIC's initial inquiries, compliance and enforcement work across all sectors excluding markets. ECG also includes the ECG Scams Team, responsible for the design, coordination and delivery of ASIC's Scams Strategy across the organisation. Under the Strategy, our focus is on reducing the incidence of investment scams and their impact on Australian consumers and influencing the approach of our regulated population to protecting their customers from scams. The ECG scams team leads, co-leads, or supports delivery of initiatives under the Scams Strategy; drives internal cross-team collaboration on scams; and leads ASIC's engagement across government on scams including in particular the National Anti-Scam Centre.
The role
As An Analyst – Scams, You Will Be Accountable For
Project managing and contributing to multiple regulatory technological and data initiatives related to the delivery of ASIC's Scams StrategyContributing to the delivery of ASIC's anti-scam initiatives, such as a website takedown service, including liaising with third parties and supporting the delivery of data driven technology solutions to disrupt investment scamsAnalysing large data sets to identify scams related patterns and engaging on scams with internal and external stakeholders, and supporting coordination and liaison with other teams within ASIC and with other Government agenciesDrafting reports and papers, including for non-technical audiences, and contributing to the presentation of written and oral briefings to ASIC leadership and other team members.
About You
Knowledge of IT systems to support investment scam disruption with knowledge of data analytical techniques to interrogate large data setsKnowledge and ability to quickly acquire knowledge of scams, disruption responses, evolving and emerging risks will be highly beneficialDemonstrated interest in consumer protection and regulatory work with ability to represent ASIC to ensure ASIC's position and voice is clear and strongStrong written and oral communication skills with the ability to influence, lead and implement a whole of ASIC work program
