The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service based in Bunbury which provides a variety of health services to Aboriginal people in the South West, Great South, Upper wheatbelt and Peel Regions of Western Australia. SWAMS delivers a wide range of Services including: GP Clinics, primary health Care, Counselling, NDIS and community host various programs. SWAMS has a strong growth strategy through partnership opportunities and future community development.

About the team
The Learning & Development team is looking to fill a newly created position to work with their current Learning & Development Coordinator. This team is an integral part of SWAMS as its focus is to help with development of our employees to be able to provide a high level of service to our community. This team is based in our Administration building in Bunbury.
About the role
The Learning and Development Officer (L&D) Officer is responsible for providing operational and administrative support to the organisation and the Learning and Development team. The position ensures that staff training, study, workshops, accommodation, and travelling are booked efficiently, and associated records are kept up to date. The position provides learning and development support to external stakeholders such as organising the onboarding of student placements, secondees and any other duties assigned by the Learning and Development.
This position will be varied and may include but not be limited to:
- Assist with the co-ordination and maintenance of staff training records
- Arrange invoices for staff training, registration and software learning systems
- General scanning and organisation of L&D documentation and uploading of training certificates as required and update mandatory certifications in staff profiles
- Book training for all approved training/workshop/conferences. Inclusive of venue and catering needs for staff
- Book staff accommodation and interstate travel and provide itineraries to staff in a timely manner
- Liaise with facilitators to deliver mandatory and non-mandatory training and development for staff
- File electronic copies of approved Travel and Training forms
- Receive and prepare the requests from staff applications for Study Agreements for final approval
About you
You will be someone who thrives on being organised and demonstrates great interpersonal skills along with a good knowledge of Microsoft systems and administration. You will also have the following:
- Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent under section 50(d) Equal Opportunity Act.
- An understanding of Aboriginal people and cultures and can communicate effectively with community stakeholders and both external/internal stakeholders
- Self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a team.
- A high attention to detail coupled with ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
