Senior Compliance Advisor

A leading energy provider is seeking a highly skilled Senior Compliance Advisor to play a crucial role in ensuring regulatory compliance across its Australian and New Zealand operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a compliance professional to contribute to the development and implementation of best-practice frameworks, ensuring business processes align with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
About the Role
As the Senior Compliance Advisor , you will act as a subject matter expert, supporting business units in interpreting regulatory obligations and developing effective compliance controls. You will be instrumental in assessing potential risks, investigating breaches, and working closely with regulators to resolve compliance issues. Additionally, you will support compliance improvement projects, conduct risk assessments, and provide strategic guidance to stakeholders on energy laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Provide expert advice on compliance risks associated with business processes and activities.
  • Maintain and enhance the compliance framework to align with legislative obligations.
  • Lead compliance risk assessments and recommend process improvements.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of compliance controls across internal and outsourced activities.
  • Support investigations into potential breaches and coordinate regulatory reporting.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage compliance obligations using the company’s Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tool.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring a deep understanding of compliance frameworks and regulatory requirements within the energy sector. Your ability to assess risks, develop innovative solutions, and influence stakeholders will be key to driving compliance excellence across the organisation.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Proven experience in a compliance, risk, or regulatory role within the energy sector
  • Ability to interpret complex regulatory obligations and translate them into actionable business processes.
  • Experience in conducting compliance risk assessments and implementing process improvements.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with GRC systems (experience with Archer is advantageous).
