Description:
The Right to Information (RTI) and Privacy Unit is responsible for administering the department’s obligations under the Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act) and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act).
This includes: making access decisions on applications for documents under both Acts and applications for amendment of personal information under the IP Act; management of privacy complaints and breaches; and preparation of the Right to Information and Information Privacy Annual Report.
Application Processing:
• Co-ordinate the location, retrieval, receipt and return of documents subject to applications under the Right to Information Act 2009 and the Information Privacy Act 2009, and administrative release requests, in a manner which meets the sufficiency of search requirements of the legislation.
• Prepare, maintain and update RTI/IP application files, including confidential and secure storage of same.
• Assist with monitoring and maintaining the RTI and Privacy database to ensure accurate statistics are available
• Liaise with officers within the agency regarding the location and retrieval of requested documents pursuant to applications.
• Ensure the confidentiality of all documentation handled, appropriate access to files is maintained, and a secure filing system is in place is all times.
General Team Administration and Support:
• Manage own work flow by negotiating and confirming work priorities for work completion in consideration of the delivery requirements of other members of the team.
• Efficient time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks as demands arise and with competing priorities.
• Liaise with external agencies as required.
• Examine and register incoming correspondence to determine action.
• Manage team inbox, respond to general enquiries via phone and email. Maintain and process all emails received via the generic email addresses
• Process and register outgoing mail.
• Undertake general administrative duties as requested supporting management including word processing and spreadsheets, scanning of documents, photocopying, preparation of correspondence.
Applications to remain current for 12 months.
