The Parole Board Queensland was established under the Corrective Services Act 2006 (CSA) on 3 July 2017 as an independent authority and its statutory functions and powers are exercised independently of influence by Queensland Corrective Services (QCS).
As an independent decision-making body, the Board receives information from a range of people, service providers and organisations. The Board scrutinizes the information it is provided with and maintains public confidence in the parole decisionmaking process through transparency in its processes.
The Secretariat is a business unit established under the Community Corrections and Specialist Operations division in QCS. The Secretariat supports the Board through the provision of administrative and legal support in accordance with QCS’ statutory obligations relating to the operations of the Board.
We need you to have strong problem-solving skills, interpersonal and negotiation skills, the ability to meet the challenges of working in a demanding work environment, to be able to navigate the Agency's electronic recording systems and databases, have strong team working skills and well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated commitment to own wellbeing, building resilience in the workplace and able to develop effective strategies dealing with emotionally charged situations or at times difficult and controversial issues and you'll have a good understanding of how the criminal justice system works.
Your day to day will be ensuring the Secretariat supports the Board through the provision of administrative support, in accordance with the Agency's statutory obligations, under the CSA. As the subject matter expert, you'll be providing advice to colleagues in the Secretariat and stakeholders at the Board relating to offender management issues. You'll be providing support, guidance and development to support officers, and promoting and nurturing a team culture that that has good morale and values diversity.
