We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Design Drafter or Piping Designer to join our Networks team in Thomastown, VIC, Eagle Farm QLD or Kidman Park SA, on a fixed term contact for one 1 year.

Reporting to the Lead Draftsman, this role provides mechanical design and drafting services to the organisation and ensures activities are undertaken to the appropriate Australian and International Standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be assigned to lead on specific projects and act as the liaison between internal customers and the drafting team to ensure they receive service in a timely manor
  • Support of the Mechanical and Piping Engineers with development of design; 3D models, drawings, and associated deliverables
  • Preparation of detailed design, 3D models, drawing packages, and associated deliverables, for construction, installation and commissioning
  • Assist with the writing and implementation of discipline related standards, guides, procedures and work instructions
  • Visit construction sites, take field dimensions, create Red Line Mark ups of existing equipment / proposed changes etc.

Your background

  • Tertiary qualification in an engineering discipline or trade
  • Strong drafting experience (Mechanical/Piping desirable)
  • Computer based drafting expertise (AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Vault)
  • Willing to work on a range of projects as workload dictates and happy to work under supervision as well as autonomously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both internal & external stakeholders

Networks manages and operates local distribution networks and transmission pipelines that deliver gas to around 1.4 million households and businesses across Australia.

This is an exciting time for the Networks team, we are growing and expanding with many new projects, including 2032 Olympics. Also, we have a strong culture of continuous improvement and working towards Net Zero with the introduction of renewable green gas into the Gas Networks.
