What’s the job?

The Workplace relations specialist is responsible for conducting workplace investigations and managing complex employee relations cases to ensure compliance with employment laws, company policies, and best practices. This role requires strong analytical, investigative, and conflict-resolution skills to address workplace concerns effectively while fostering a fair and inclusive work environment. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to management and employees, providing expert guidance on workplace behaviour, dispute resolution, and legal compliance.

The location preference is Sydney; however, for the right candidate, we are open to the following other campuses – Adelaide, Melbourne

Accountabilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough, objective, and legally compliant investigations into workplace complaints, including misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and other employee grievances. They will manage complex employee relations cases, ensuring timely resolutions and minimizing organisational risks. The role also includes providing coaching and guidance to leaders and HR teams on managing employee relations matters effectively, ensuring compliance with relevant labor laws and ethical standards, and educating employees and managers on workplace rights and responsibilities.

As a trusted advisor, the candidate will support employees, managers, HR teams, and senior leadership on workplace relations and investigations, liaising with legal counsel and regulatory bodies when necessary. Additionally, the role involves developing and maintaining reporting mechanisms to track investigations, case management outcomes, and trends, preparing detailed reports and presentations for senior management on key metrics and compliance status.

We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in workplace relations and HR case management

  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws, workplace policies, and HR best practices.

  • Proven experience conducting workplace investigations, including experience handling complex or high-risk cases.

  • Understanding of psychological safety, trauma-informed approaches, and employee well-being strategies.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to draft detailed and legally defensible investigation reports.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • High level of discretion, professionalism, and ability to handle confidential information
