About the role
Permanent full time opportunity to provide expert clinical knowledge and clinical care for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women and babies with a variety of conditions and support a safe care environment through role modelling and application of the principles of contemporary evidence-based woman and baby focused care, education, leadership, and portfolio management.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, protocols, and history, as well as demonstrated experience in engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples thereby ensuring care is delivered in a culturally responsive manner.
- Practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting midwifery practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.
- Apply advanced clinical midwifery expertise, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to deliver a high standard of woman and baby centred care.
- Develop in partnership with women individualised care plans for antenatal, postnatal, and intrapartum care and may extend to women's health, sexual or reproductive health, preparation for parenthood and childcare.
- Respond appropriately to, and provide support and direction to manage, sudden alterations in the health status of the woman and baby using advanced midwifery assessment and intervention skills.
