About the role
The Maternity Gynaecology Ward operates a seven day/ Monday to Sunday service, 24 hours. The service provides care for women who require antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology care, including caesarean sections and induction of labour.
The clinical midwife works in partnership with the wider multidisciplinary team to provide woman and family centred, quality, safe patient care. This role provides the delivery of clinical care and support specific to maternity and gynaecology within an inpatient setting.
The Clinical Midwife provides expert clinical leadership and care within a specific area supporting the general function of the unit through the application of the principles of best practice, education, leadership and portfolio management who is accountable for practice at an advanced level, working collaboratively within the unit and with other members of the health care team including patients/families, other health professionals, general practitioners and other agencies (including non-Government agencies)
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge in the area of antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology delivering expert midwifery care in complex situations while providing support and direction to other team members.
- Demonstrated ability to role model excellent standards of comprehensive, evidence-based midwifery care and documentation to facilitate quality patient outcomes, in accordance with National Safety and Quality Health Service and professional standards.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with members of the healthcare team, patients, relatives and visitors and maintain a positive workplace culture through well developed consultation, liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships and a positive environment within a multidisciplinary team, actively contributing to the learning and development of others to a high standard.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate staff and manage delegated resources including prioritising needs and supporting day-to-day changes.
- Demonstrates a strong team commitment through ability to provide clinical education and support at an advanced level.

- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
