About the Department:

About the Glass House Mountains State School:

The school was established to service the increasing population of farming families. Pineapple, avocado, macadamia and custard apple farms still grace the landscape today, although not in large pockets as in earlier days.

With year levels from Prep to Year 6, the school has a population of approximately 380 students and is privileged to share a successful and rewarding relationship between students, staff, parents and the wider community.

Our school provides a caring environment with well-balanced curriculum, focusing on improved literacy and numeracy outcomes.

About the Role:

This role will include a teaching role and lead the Inclusion Team. This position is line managed by our principal and is a member of the Leadership Team.

As the Head of Special Education Services your responsibilities will include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Promote an inclusive culture and practices within the school community to ensure equity and excellence for students with disability.
  • Develop and support a high quality of teaching and adjustments for students with disability in accordance to related legislation and policies.
  • Provide, support and/or coordinate case management for students who require extensive or substantial adjustments.

As the Head of Special Education Services, you will:

  • focus on educational leadership, participating in delivering the vision of State Schools Division
  • develop the quality of teaching and learning
  • nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, the community and stakeholders.

The Head of Special Education Services is accountable to and under the direction of the Principal or delegate.
